Poker is a card game of chance, commonly played in clubs and casinos throughout the world. The object of the game is to make a poker hand from your cards that is higher in rank than the hands made by your opponents.<\/p>\n
The game begins with a deal, in which all players are dealt one card face down and then one card face up. After a betting interval (round), all the players’ cards are revealed and a showdown takes place.<\/p>\n
There are many different variants of the game, but most involve one or more forced bets, usually an ante and\/or blind bet (sometimes both). Once all bets have been made, each player can call, raise, or fold.<\/p>\n
A common strategy is to raise a low hand, such as two sixes, and then raise again after the first round when you have a better hand. This is called \u201cbluffing\u201d and can be the difference between winning and losing a hand.<\/p>\n
In general, high-card hands win ties, while pairs and other two-card combinations lose. If multiple hands tie on the same rank, then the highest card wins, followed by the second-highest, and so on.<\/p>\n
The basic game of poker uses a standard 52-card deck, sometimes with additional jokers. In games played in clubs and among the best players, two packs of contrasting colors are used.<\/p>\n
