Poker

In the game of Poker, players have the option of creating a special fund called a kitty. This kitty is built by cutting a low denomination chip from each pot that has more than one raise. The kitty belongs to all players equally, and is used to buy new decks of cards or even food. The kitty chips are split among all players still in the game, except for those who have left the table before the game ends.

In a typical game of poker, each player begins by placing an ante (variable) into the pot in the middle. The player with the best hand wins the pot. In most games, betting occurs in a clockwise manner, and continues until all players have called or folded. The winner of a poker game is determined by how many players are in the pot. The first player to fold is called out of the hand. When this occurs, a new round of betting begins.

In a game of poker, one player is considered to have the best hand if he or she holds a five-card hand of any value. A player can also tie in a game of poker if he or she holds a pair that is higher than the other player’s. If the two players have identical hands, the pot is split between them as evenly as possible. However, if both players tie for the highest hand, the odd chip is awarded to the player who holds the highest-suited card.
