Casino is a glamorous, flashy place where champagne glasses clink and people try their luck at games of chance. It’s an exciting atmosphere where the thrill of knowing you can win big (or lose it all) keeps people coming back. There’s also usually lots of places to eat, drink and enjoy entertainment options to keep the crowds entertained.
Casinos are one of the most competitive businesses around. Just like a hit movie or consumer product, a casino can make a lot of money, but it won’t last long if someone comes out with something better, bigger or closer. Casinos compete with other casinos, private gambling operations, online gaming and a huge illegal gambling industry.
While the story of Casino is a bit more dramatized than the mafia escapades in Goodfellas, Scorsese did a fantastic job capturing the euphoria and excitement of a real-life casino experience. From the throngs of people lining up to enter, to the tables of gamblers clad in suits and ties huddled together over their chips, you can feel the energy pulsing through the screen.
Casinos aren’t just about gambling – they offer luxury hotels, cutting-edge technology, top-notch spa and health club amenities, flexible event spaces and award-winning restaurants as well. Those non-gambling offerings need to be promoted, as well as targeted marketing for events and group business. This is especially important as Millennials and Gen Zers tend to spend more on food, entertainment and other non-gaming options than older audiences.
